1 Item, 5 Ways: Black Sheath Dress

I’m very excited to be doing this month’s 1 Item, 5 Ways post with the gorgeous and stylish Adrienne from Rich Life on a Budget! I’m sure she will have some amazing black sheath dress ideas, and her pictures are always beautiful outdoor shots.

What I love about a little black dress, especially a very basic one, is that so much can be done with it. A really verstatile one can be layered under, over, and jazzed up on it’s own with just accessories. You’ll see for this post I’ve done mine with tights in all shots as it is cold here, my legs are pale, and I wouldn’t be realistically be going out without legwear. Adrienne is fortunate enough to get some warmer weather in sunny California, so I’m guessing she has some legwear free ideas. I may actually do this dress again for a post with warmer weather – there are really so many options!

In addition to the 5 ways below, you’ve also already seen this dress here and here.

The first way I paired this was to layer a fly away cardigan over the dress, along with textured tights, booties, and then a leopard print belt to pull it all together

And continuing the leopard theme, I layered my leopard print blouse under the dress and paired with my Missoni for Target shoes and JewelMint necklace

I swear I didn’t realize until I was actually putting this post together that all of these outfits, except the last one, contain animal print. What can I say – it jazzes up a basic black dress really well! I put my super clearance Express v-neck sweater over the dress and then added a black stretchy belt to make the proportions work. Silver jewelry and grey boots finish it off.

For the next outfit, I decided to really let my leopard print pumps shine by adding a basic black turtleneck under the dress, and nothing else except my black and gold JewelMint necklace. This is a great winter work outfit.

And last but not least, this dress can go from day to night with sheerer hose, a black patent pump, a statement necklace, and a satin clutch.

You can find this exact dress at Macy’s for $54.98 if you are on the hunt for a versatile LBD. Hope you enjoyed this post, be sure to see all the ways Adrienne wears hers!

I love you what you did with all of your dresses, but I particularly like number 4 with the animal print shoes. You look fabulous there.

You are such a great layer-er! I love all your ensembles. Especially the first look…leopard and hot pink is a favorite color combination of mine and it looks so flattering with your blonde hair.

Your last photo and my first look awfully similar! Isn’t that funny?

So fun to participate with you…want to do it again next month?

    xoxo, Adrienne
