I woke up today so happy it was Friday… until it dawned on me that it was only Thursday. Really? On a good note though, it is supposed to be a gorgeous day here today and I am planning on taking a nice long walk at lunch. Unfortunately will have to continually repeat to myself “must stay away from Ann Taylor, must stay away from Ann Taylor.” It is like a magnetic pull when 40% off everything is going on. For any of you who live by a Limited, my friend Sarah said that they have some cute stuff and great sales going on through the end of the week as well so you might want to stop by – fortunately that is at least one store not downtown to tempt me! Supposedly we are getting a City Target downtown at some point, when that happens I am really in trouble…
Today’s outfit was built around this sweater skirt that I picked up on sale along with a coupon they sent for my birthday so I think I paid maybe $35 for it. Let me tell you, a sweater skirt, while fun & different, is a little harder to style than a sweater dress. Normally when I wear a skirt I find that I either have to tuck in a blouse or define my waist with a belt to get the proportions right. But since this skirt is on the shorter side, I actually think it works with a little bit of a longer top. I’m going to have to play around and try a few different combos with this piece though – thinking for weekend maybe it will work with my wedge boots, a long sleeve black tee and the faux fur vest I have yet to wear.
How would you wear a sweater skirt? I need ideas!
(ps, sorry my hair looks like crap today – I decided sleep was more important and literally just brushed it out, don’t we all have those days?)
Skirt – Loft (similar), Sweater – Banana Republic (similar), Tights – Spanx Tight End, Shoes – Circa Joan & David, Necklace – Premier Designs
And going to combine a little food post in here too, hence the fashion and food. Last night’s dinner was delicious! Check out these recipes I made – Bacon and Apple stuffed pork chops and Sauteed Broccolini. As far as the broccolini goes, I wouldn’t bother with the ice bath, just take broccolini straight from boiling water and into sautee pan – yummy!

Another great outfit. I think the skirt would also be good with boots and your fur-trimmed cardigan (I love that cardi!)

Great idea, I will try it with that – thanks!

Sweater skirts look best paired with something in an opposite texture: silk blouse, leather boots, etc. You did well pairing yours with a smooth, white top.
The pork chops look yummy!

Good idea, maybe I will try a silky blouse sometime
